Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh will not seek re-election this year, Fox News has learned.
The two-term Indiana senator is known as a moderate Democrat. His retirement gives Republicans yet another opportunity to pick up a seat in a year when several incumbent Democrats are considered vulnerable.
Former GOP Sen. Dan Coats had been planning to challenge Bayh in November.
With Senator Evan Bayh announcing his retirement from the Senate, it's now time for all of us to come together to elect our former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and current Pro-Life Ambassador for the Pre-Born to replace him in the U.S. Senate!
ReplyDeleteWe have primaries for a reason. I think anyone who supports Dan Coats does so for a good reason, behind a good man. Yet, I think anyone who supports a new face among the others, also does so in support of some good people like Don Bates, John Hostettler, Marlin Stutzman and Richard Behney. All appear to be good candidates. Any of them could make good senators and their supporters need not quit before the first vote has been cast, simply because of who Coats is or was.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, one could argue that the political "need" for a former Senator to challenge an incumbent with 12 million in the bank just evaporated.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that you can't drink good water and bad water from the same stream. If someone is going to run a dirty, filthy campaign, you can't expect them to have an "epiphany" if they win the election and miraculously begin running their office with honesty and integrity. They will run their office with the same dirt and filth with which they ran their campaign.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, Congressman Mike Pence may attack an idea or a concept, but never the person.
I hope and pray that a couple of the Republicans running against Senator Coats in the Primary will curtail their assiduous personal attacks regarding the Senator's good reputation and get down to the business of discussing the issues!
